Seeking Christ

If you are seeking Christ and have lost your way...

1.  Know where you stand:  Psalm 5:4 says that “God cannot dwell with the wicked.”  Romans 3:23 states that “all have been wicked,” which means that we are all guilty of doing wrong (committing sin) and therefore, cannot dwell with God.

2.  Understand God’s solution for you:  Since all have sinned, all must pay the penalty for sin, or someone without sin must pay for them.  God sent His Son to do just that:  to pay the penalty for us (2 Corinthians 5:21).  God has provided a way for us to be reconciled to Him:  through faith in Jesus Christ.

3.  Know how to respond:  In Mark 1:15, Jesus said that we must repent (turn from  sin) and believe the gospel (turn to  Christ).  Romans 10:9 says that “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved.”  Do you believe this?  Are you ready to make that confession?  Are you convicted about the need to repent from your sins and trust in Jesus alone to provide for your salvation?  Then pray this simple prayer:

“Almighty God, I confess that I have sinned against you, but I believe that you sent Jesus to pay the penalty for my sins.  I believe He rose from the dead to demonstrate His victory over sin and death, and right now, I need Jesus to come into my heart so that I will have the assurance that I will be in heaven with Him when I die.  Father, since Jesus died for me, I want to live for Him.  By the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to live for Him from this day forward.  Amen.”
